Workplace drug testing weeds out officers
drug testing. Police Chief Greg Porter said that two officers have been fired after testing positive. One officer quit when he was told to take a test, and a fourth officer was suspended and is under investigation after his sample appeared diluted and he refused a second test. Porter went on to say, “It leaves me with a bitter taste overall for the department. (But) it does tell me I’m going in the right direction”, and that between 30 and 45 officers have been tested so far. With 10% of officers being nabbed by these random drug tests, this isn’t boding well for the department or for police officers as a whole. Nonetheless, as Porter says – this is a step in the right direction, and clearing out law enforcement individuals who cannot even abide by the laws they are there to enforce is clearly the right thing to be doing.]]>
