Unemployment figures predict surge in background checks
Department of Labor are the first signs in 2011 that there could well be an increase in background checks. It seems that there are two reasons behind this – firstly the fact that more and more companies are understanding the value of pre-employment background checks, and secondly due to the gradual rise in employment that we are starting to see. As the economic recovery continues and employment rises, there will naturally be a higher need for employment checks. In December alone, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 556,000 to 14.5 million and the unemployment rate dropped to 9.4 percent. Over the whole of 2010, these measures were down from 15.2 million and 9.9 percent, respectively. That alone is a significant statistic, portraying the idea that we are now over the worst of the economic troubles and 2011 can be a year of hope and stability. Add to this the clear trend that more businesses are performing checks on potential hires, and it is obviously going to be a busy year for background screening companies. Unfortunately, this may lead to more mistakes. Be sure to choose a background screening company that you can rely on and check out what Mind Your Business can do for you.]]>
