- Substance abusers are 33% – 50% less productive than individuals who are not substance abusers.
- Drug using employees are 3.6 times more likely to have an accident on the job and 5 times more likely to file a workers’ compensation claim.
- In 2006, 35.8 percent of persons aged 12 to 20 who used alcohol in the past month had also used an illicit drug in the past month.
- More than 40% of U.S. corporate CEOs who participated in a recent survey stated that the use of illegal drugs and alcohol costs them from 1% to 10% of their annual payroll.
- 80% of drug users steal from their workplace to fund their habit.
- Up to 15% of workplace fatalities are due to drug use.
