George’s StorMor Out on a Limb Innovative Business Award
The new year has begun with a bang for MYB, having been awarded with George’s StorMor Out on a Limb Innovative Business Award by the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. The pre-requisite for the award states it should be presented to “a company that has discovered consumer needs and has been able to meet those needs through creative innovation”. After a successful 2010 in terms of receiving notable accolades, it’s great to continue where we left off. To qualify for this award, a business must also demonstrate how creative problem solving led to new policies, processes, or applications to better serve the needs of its customers. So how did Mind Your Business do this? Here are a couple of examples that were noted by the Asheville Chamber that we’d love to pass on: – MYB has created two proprietary software programs customized for specific government agencies and corporate needs. The software programs were developed for Fleet Management and Visitor Management screening which address increasing security regulations driven by U.S. DOT and Homeland Security. When clients asked MYB to resolve this problem, MYB approached the Engineering Department and College of Business at Western Carolina University for research and development to bring new products to the market. As a result of this partnership, universities were recognized as a market niche that was underserved by traditional background screening companies, thus opening new opportunities for MYB.
– Karen, CEO of Mind Your Business, has adopted a “Three Ring Rule”. In an industry that is dominated by automated menu options and incessant voicemail, MYB prides itself on having an employee answer phone calls from clients within three rings of the telephone.
Further mentions were delivered to the strategic partnerships MYB has worked hard to achieve, how the office has continued to deliver results despite the difficult winter, as well as Karen’s unwavering and emphatic support for her employees. The final paragraph states: “It is without question that Karen Caruso goes above and beyond, not only for her client base, but for her employees. Her creativity and innovative ideas far surpass other small business owners and corporate giants. It is without question that Karen Caruso be awarded the Innovate Business Award.”
It is with great pride that Karen and MYB accept this award, and is continued proof to every employee that their hard work does not go unnoticed and they are truly making a difference when they arrive at work in the morning. We are delighted with this great start to the year and excited to see what 2011 will bring.
