Federal agencies renew commitment to employment opportunities for disabled workers

The two agencies, alongside other advocates and resource providers, have recently re-committed to this partnership, and will be creating new opportunities for those with significant disabilities to find integrated employment options and share community resources. “Integrated, competitive employment is central to community living and full participation in all aspects of our society,” said Sharon Lewis, the Administration for Community Living’s principal deputy administrator. “We are proud to work with ODEP to improve the opportunities for people with disabilities to contribute their talents and skills to the American workforce.” The partnership will further provide assistance through the Centers for Independent Living, which provides skills training and advocacy programs, and the Workforce Investment System, which focuses on creating employment and education programs to assist in developing the workforce.]]>
