February 2018 employment: US adds 313,000 jobs

According to ‘The Employment Situation‘ report released by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in the United States remained unchanged at 4.1%, while the economy added 313,000 jobs, in February.

Employment rose in construction, retail trade, professional and business services, manufacturing, financial activities, and mining.

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rate for Blacks declined to 6.9 percent in February, while the jobless rates for adult men (3.7 percent), adult women (3.8 percent), teenagers (14.4 percent), Whites (3.7 percent), Asians (2.9 percent), and Hispanics (4.9 percent) showed little change.

The change in employment for December 2017 was revised from 160,000 jobs added to 175,000 jobs added while January 2018 was revised from 200,000 jobs added to 239,000 jobs added. With the revisions, employment gains in these two months were 54,000 jobs more than previously reported
