DISA to build new, advanced background screening system
The system will be used by the National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB), which replaced the Federal Investigative Services on Oct. 1, 2016. NBIB has now secured $50 million from the White House’s 2018 budget (which also committed $15 million to E-Verify) to continue to build the new background screening system. Prototyping an engineering of the new platform is well underway, with the budget allocation actually decreasing for 2018 vs 2017. They expect to begin transitioning to the new system in 2018.
