DHS to hire 1,000 new employees for cyber security team
Office of Personnel Management gave DHS permission to create up to 1,000 new jobs. By granting this authority, the OPM will allow the Department to bypass many of the hiring procedures that the government currently has in place that could delay hiring. The hope is that, by getting staff on board quicker, DHS can get its employees to hit the ground running and get started working on the cyber security tasks before them. In this mission, the Department is responsible for securing both private government networks and websites whose domains end in .gov and .mil. The available jobs will allow for a variety of skills, as DHS is looking for people to work in program management, cyber vulnerability detection, system and network engineering, and more. DHS is also looking for analysts to help with cyber risk assessment, intelligence, and infrastructure interdependency, among other things. All 1,000 jobs are expected to be filled by June 30, 2016. The qualifications required for these positions have not been released by OPM.]]>
