Background screening reveals N.C. felonies
background screening on a man in Virginia Beach discovered he was wanted in Currituck County, N.C. James E. Hill, 21, is charged with felony receiving stolen goods and a misdemeanor charge of providing a false name to police. Last week, officers were dispatched to a parking lot due to some disorderly individuals making excessive noise. They questioned four people who were standing next to a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup, of which one identified himself as Jacob John. Further investigation allowed police to discover that the vehicle was reported stolen and that Hill had given them a false name. After police conducted a background check on Hill, they discovered he was wanted in other jurisdictions, including Currituck County, where his felonies were understood to be taking indecent liberties with a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and giving a fictitious name to law enforcement. Hill later admitted his identity at the magistrate’s office. Good work by the police officers involved and the necessary background checks have now ensured that a criminal has been caught.]]>
