Background check discovers outstanding warrant
Ralston Police arrested a man wanted in Indiana, who had moved to begin a new life. However, his past and the law caught up with him after a company ran a background check on his job application. “Otherwise (without the check ran for the job application), we wouldn’t have known he was here,” says Ralston Police Sgt. Mark Leonardo. “He had a warrant for dealing cocaine.” It may seem strange that the individual in question put his real name and social security number – but people don’t think it’s going to come up when they fill out a job application. However, some background checks do court checks across the entire country. It’s not the first time MYB has shown how a simple background screening has brought up some unexpected results, and it won’t be the last. Pre-employment background checks are usually to protect the business from someone who may be a dangerous or untrustworthy hire – in this case, a check has worked out to protect society as a whole. Such an example can do no more than re-inforce just how important pre-employment checks are in this day and age.]]>
